Planned Giving

Meet your financial goals while supporting St. George’s and its programs that are important to you.

Planned giving involves integrating your charitable gift into your overall financial, tax, and estate planning objectives so as to maximize benefits to both you and St. George’s Episcopal Church and Academy.

Planned gifts typically come from a donor’s assets rather than their income and such gifts can be outright or deferred. Also, it is highly recommended that you consult with your own tax or legal advisors prior to making a planned gift.

Charitable Gift Annuity

You can make a gift to St. George’s Episcopal Church which will help support the church’s dreams and goals for the future and help to ensure the church’s continued contribution to the lives it touches. How can you do this? You can create a charitable gift annuity.

A gift annuity is a simple contract between you and the national Episcopal Church Foundation in which you exchange cash or securities for fixed payments for life - for any person you choose. You can have payments begin this year or postpone any payout until a future time, such as retirement. You can designate St. George’s Episcopal Church of Laguna Hills, to be the parish to benefit from such a contract.

Gifts by Will or Revocable Trust

A will is the easiest and most effective means to ensure that you fully provide for your family that your assets are distributed as you wish.

Gifts or bequests, both large and small, whether directed by your will or your revocable trust, have been important to St. George’s Episcopal Church since its founding. Many people have remembered the Church in their will while also providing for their families and loved ones.

These bequests provide a major portion of the church’s funding for its projects and expansion and support of its ongoing work.

A gift to St. George’s Episcopal Church through your will or revocable living trust has several advantages:

  1. Charitable gifts made through your will or revocable living trust are 100% deductible for estate tax purposes.
  2. A charitable bequest may place your estate in a lower estate tax bracket.
  3. You may specify that your bequest be used for general purposes of the church or for a particular area of your interest.
  4. Once you notify the church of your bequest, you qualify for membership in the Olive Tree Society.

Olive Tree Society

The Olive Tree Society has been established to honor all who support St. George’s Episcopal Church through their estate and financial plans, i.e. via their wills, trusts, gift annuities and other planned gifts.

The olive tree has strong roots to provide its foundation, and bears fruit that is wonderful of itself, but can also be used to enhance other dishes. Likewise, the members of the Olive Tree Society provide St. George’s Episcopal Church with its foundation and their far-sighted gifts allow the church to grow and maintain itself as well as reach out to the community and beyond.

Membership in the society is fun. The Society gathers socially several times a year and through its collective voice is a continuing influence on the church’s growth and programs.

If you would like more information about membership in the Olive Tree Society and the benefits of leaving a legacy to St. George’s Episcopal Church, please contact us.
