"A Christian home with love and compassion for all."
We worship God through liturgy and sacrament, heeding the call of our baptismal covenant to seek and serve christ in all persons, loving our neighbor as ourselves.
The Church
Stop by Heritage Hill Park in Lake Forest and visit the small redwood church, St. George’s first building, built in 1891.
We have been a presence in Orange County since the late 1880s, at various times providing worship space for Jewish, Greek Orthodox and Baptist faith communities.
Droughts and torrential rains contributed to the church’s early rough-and-tumble existence while serving fruit workers and wealthy families in the surrounding agrarian community. Circuit-riding priests initially served St. George’s as communities such as Anaheim, Tustin, Santa Ana and Orange grew.
In 1964 with the opening of Leisure World and the development of Mission Viejo, the mission church of St. George’s began to experience a new influx of families. In 1966 the Rev. Frederick C. Hammond became vicar-in-charge and was later called as the church’s first rector.
Under Fr. Hammond’s energetic leadership a new church building was erected at the present location and dedicated in 1969.
The adobe tiles that can be seen in the memorial fountain were created by members and lined the periphery of the original Carlota building.
A new activity center was built, now called the St. George’s Academy, “A home away from home” for our preschool and kindergarten students. We understand how busy parents can be, so we have created a safe and nurturing environment to give our students the attention they deserve.
We focus on developing the spiritual, intellectual, creative & physical gifts of our children, while at the same time teaching them to be responsible members of their community—both on local and global levels.
The Pathway School
In 2007, the Pathway School joined our campus, offering a multi-sensory educational approach to students through the eighth grade. It offers a comprehensive program of services for children between 5 to 16 for whom mainstream public and private school education is insufficient.
Today, St. George's Parish and our affiliates serve the ever-increasing community from the diverse Saddleback Valley.
