Rev. Pat McCaughan
Vicar
“
I've always nurtured a vocation of listening and honoring the stories of our lives as a pathway to healing. This vocation has fed dual callings: as priest and as journalist.
I've grown into the two callings, as a quest to be a voice for the voiceless, finding deeper ways to tell these stories of our lives, the stories of our faith and the good news of God in Jesus Christ and the good news of the Episcopal Church.
Since 2006, I've been a connection for St. George's for those who are unable to attend church because of illness or other reasons, either temporarily or permanently. Serving as part-time pastoral associate at St. George's has fulfilled a passion for pastoral care. It seemed a natural progression to answer the call when Bishop Jon Bruno asked me to become priest-in-charge during the transition. In this new role, it's been wonderful to participate in Sunday worship and to move more deeply and fully into the life of St. George's. I continue to be inspired and motivated by the movement of the Holy Spirit in our life together.
I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan where, among other places, I served as a journalist before responding to a call to the priesthood. I entered the General Theological Seminary (GTS) in 1994. I'm a graduate of Wayne State University, Columbia University and GTS, where I met my husband, the Rev. Keith Yamamoto, rector of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Upland.
Ordained to the priesthood on May 31, 1998, I've served congregations in New York, Michigan and California. I've also served both the local diocesan community as a reporter for the Episcopal News and editor of the clergy newsletter, the Angelus. I have also served the church-wide community, writing the good news stories of the church for the Episcopal News Service.
I continue to be inspired and enriched and enlivened by the St.
George's community—church and academy. Blessings to all.

Clergy, Staff and Laity are all St. George's ministers, serving together for the building up of the church. Our vestry is an excellent group of caring leaders from our neighboring human services, business and legal communities. They have responded to a deeper call to dedicate themselves to supporting, leading and enriching the church and surrounding community.
